Lee County spans quite a large area and encompasses several major cities. The Caloosahatchee river runs through the county and separates Cape Coral from Ft. Myers. Lehigh Acres is to the East of Ft. Myers and is inland. Pine Island is directly west of Cape Coral and Sanibel is south of Pine Island. Ft. Myers Beach is actually Estero Island. The south end of the island runs into Bonita Beach. Bonita Springs is just east of Bonita Beach. Estero and San Carlos park are located between Ft. Myers and Bonita Springs. The area considered East Ft. Myers is along the south side of the Caloosahatchee river and North Ft. Myers is along the north side of the river. The Ft. Myers downtown area is in East Ft. Myers.
