With the spring home buying season in full swing, now is the time for sellers to get their homes ready for market -- and that translates to spring-cleaning, according to real estate professionals. Nearly 50 percent of buyers make their decisions before stepping through the front door, NAR says, which means it's a good idea for sellers to clean, paint and landscape the exterior to boost curb appeal.
In fact, a seller could add up to 10 percent to the sale price by simply grooming their yard and home's exterior. Meanwhile, the inside of the home should be spotless and clutter- free.
Experts recommend removing magnets and notes from the refrigerator; thoroughly cleaning kitchen counters and appliances; minimizing furnishings; cleaning bookshelves and fireplaces; eliminating pet odors; and making sure there are no traces of mold or mildew in the bathrooms.
